Strathewen, Victoria
Strathewen is a locality situated near Kinglake National Park, 45 kilometres (28 mi) from central Melbourne in Victoria, Australia, with a population of around 200. It is an apple and pear producing area and is home to small local vineyards and wineries.
History
Strathewen Post Office opened on 20 September 1909 and closed in 1964. [3]
The town was substantially destroyed during the Black Saturday bushfires on February 7, 2009, which destroyed the primary school, old fire station, community hall, and most of the houses in the area. 27 of its 200 residents died in the fires.[4]
